My quote for the week:
"Charity: It is like a beacon to the world signaling whose disciples we are."-Elder Wirthlin"
If any man love God, the same is known of him." - 1 Corinthians 8:3
The area I am in is having a little difficulty. We are having a rough time finding people to teach. Its frustrating. Also, the leadership in this branch has some rough spots also. Almost all of my recent converts have fallen away. I feel it's because they never had friends in the church. So it's been a little frustrating to me. Well the missionaries were invited to the branch leadership meeting. They talked about how the branch its slowly crashing. The branch pres. talked about how nobody visits anyone. After the meeting he asked if I had anything I would like to say. I said yes but that I didn't want to say it because I might have to burn some people. They all wanted me to say it anyway. (first off, you have to know that the leadership here doesn't visit people. And when we baptize, it's rare to have people in the leadership come to the baptism. Mom, wouldn't you love to be RS pres. here? jk) So i just started talking in the front of everyone. I just started talking about how I am a missionary that doesn't just baptize to get high numbers. Everyone I have baptized in this branch has a relative or a friend active in the church. So where are my recent converts? Let me explain missionary work to you. I receive references from members. I teach them and prepare them for baptism. After baptism, I teach them everything again to help them understand the convenant they made. After baptism I help them gain a little testimony. But I cannot visit them forever . . . after a little time I pass them to the leadership to help them stay active. I can't remember what else I said, but just talked about how they need to visit recent converts and less actives because that is not what missionaries do. Its was fun. I cant explain it though - sorry.
So eveyone in the Ramo Acre is really excited I stayed. I am too actually! I love it. There are still some tranfers to be done in the mission this week. So everytime I show up at a member's house they think I got transfered. ha ha. One house has about 5 kids there - all of which are my buds. I showed up and they all started saying "are you leaving" and they looked like they were going to cry. I said yes. They all ran to me and gave me hugs saying "no Perry you cant go". I said I was just kidding and they started chanting "Perry, Perry, Perry". How Butter Cream Gang is that? So funny! Anyway thats about it. I just love serving the Lord. I love everything about being a missionary and I cant believe I only have a yr and 3 months left. Thats like nothing! How sad! Love you all! Pray for me!
