Jared is now serving in Rio Branco, which is more than 1200 miles from his mission home. So even though I have his mission home address posted - it would not be a good idea to use it. He would love to receive an e-mail from friends though. Here's a little from his e-mail dated 3/6/08:
"I actually liked the 34 hour bus ride because it wasn't boring at all. We were driving through jungles and swamps and seeing villages that were made of sticks and stuff. We got off in Port Velho and had a two hour lay over, but then I found out our bus was actually 12 hours late. Isn't that funny, 12 hours - how is that possible? So instead of arriving early in the morning Saturday, we would be arriving around noon. So while waiting at the bus stop I met the 'snake hunter'. I was sitting there when I heard this man yelling at me in English. 'Hey American, are you lost?' This man lived in Draper for some time and then decided he wanted to hunt sankes and sell their venom. He is Brazilian though. His arms were covered with snake bites. He actually travels to Utah State because he teaches about snakes there, so watch for him and ask him if he remembers the elder he met in the Port Valho bus stop. Later he started talking to the AP in Portuguese. Then he looked at me and said it must be difficult to not know what is going on. I actually understood every word he said. So I repeated what he said in English. He looked at me and said 'you spy'. It was funny."
